ABOUT US

Virtuoso Soloists formed in New York City in 2014, realizing a collective dream to  commission, perform, and record classical and contemporary music on the international stage.

Virtuoso Soloists has performed extensively across the Northeastern United States, including concerts at The Greene Space at WNYC & WQXR and Klavierhaus (New York, NY), Steinert Hall (Boston, MA), Lyric Hall (New Haven, CT), and at the Bay Chamber Concert Series (Rockland, ME). Virtuoso Soloists served as ensemble-in-residence at the beautiful and historic Cabot Theater (Beverly, MA) for the “2017/2018 Classical at the Cabot” series.

In July 2015, Virtuoso Soloists undertook a two-week tour of Northern Italy, including a residency at the Udine National Conservatory. This tour initiated the group’s collaboration with Italian composer Mario Pagotto, who dedicated a newly composed piece to the group. In light of the group’s acclaimed performances, Virtuoso Soloists was offered a contract to record an album of Pagotto’s music, which was released by the Music Ensemble Publishing Italia Label in Winter 2018.  Since 2016, Virtuoso Soloists has been traveling to Portugal every summer to present a series of concerts throughout the main cities and countrysides. In addition to these performances, Virtuoso Soloists has been serving as ensemble-in-residence and guest faculty at the Bendada Music Festival (www.bendadamusicfest.com) in Bendada, Portugal. Most recently, in November 2019, Virtuoso Soloists performed at the renowned International Festival of Sacred Music in Pordenone, Italy.

As part of their commitment to performing new music, Virtuoso Soloists believes in the importance of working with living composers. Recent collaborators, in addition to Mario Pagotto, have included American composers John H. Wallace and Ketty Nez, and Portuguese composers Tiago Cabrita and Eurico Carrapatoso. Through commissioning and premiering new works from an international array of composers, the group seeks to foster a meaningful exchange of ideas and culture, creating a forum by which audience members can engage with and appreciate music that may challenge them. This fruitful cross-cultural dialogue has become an essential part of Virtuoso Soloists’ mission of expanding the scope and reach of classical music around the world.
