ABOUT US

Founded in New York City in 2014, Virtuoso Soloists is a realization of a group of young musicians’ dream to commission, perform and record classical and contemporary music on the international stage.  Bound together by a fervor for musical exploration and excellence, Virtuoso Soloists attracts new audiences by crafting unique programs that highlight the connection between well-known classics and newly commissioned pieces.  Virtuoso Soloists has been working closely with living composers from all over the world: John. H. Wallace and Ketty Nez (Boston); Mario Pagotto (Italy); Tiago Cabrita and Eurico Carrapatoso (Portugal).

Over the course of its two year existence, Virtuoso Soloists has performed extensively across the United States and abroad.  In Summer 2015, Virtuoso Soloists completed a two-week tour of Northern Italy, including a residency at the Udine National Conservatory.  This tour realized the group’s collaboration with Italian composer Mario Pagotto, who dedicated a newly composed piece to the group.  In three sold-out concerts, Virtuoso Soloists performed premieres of Pagotto’s work alongside a newly commissioned piece by Boston University composer John H. Wallace and masterpieces from the standard repertoire.  In light of the group’s acclaimed performances, Virtuoso Soloists was offered a contract to record an album of Pagotto’s music, which will be released by the Music Ensemble Publishing Italia Label in Winter 2017.

Most recently, Virtuoso Soloists traveled to Portugal to present a series of concerts throughout the country.  In addition to these performances in some of Portugal’s most renowned concert halls, the ensemble was invited by the Bendada Philharmonic Society to organize the inaugural season of the Bendada Music Festival (www.bendadamusicfest.com), where Virtuoso Soloists served as the ensemble-in-residence, as well as guest faculty.

Everywhere they perform, Virtuoso Soloists is strongly committed to making classical music accessible to local communities.  Virtuoso Soloists often engages in outreach performances to bring the joy of music to hospitals, retirements houses, and schools.
